SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - The Union College volleyball squad concluded the regular season with wins over Fredonia and Potsdam to finish the season with an overall mark of 24-11.
The 24 wins is the most in a season since 2008 when the Dutchwomen went 36-6. Union will look to add to that total next weekend as they'll face #1 seeded Clarkson in the Liberty League playoffs. The Garnet and White entered the day tied with RIT for the third spot. The Tigers defeated NYU in five sets to clinch the #3 seed. They will play St. Lawrence in the tournament.
Rachel Wyman and
Kelley White both tallied 10 kills to lead the Union attack past Fredonia 25-21, 26-24, 25-22 to start the day.
Rajpreet Dhaliwal added nine more for the Dutchwomen. White added 16 digs for the double-double.
Katherine Moeller had a team-high 26 digs and
Amanda Price dished out a match-best 35 digs.
In the regular season finale, Wyman led both teams with 10 kills as Union breezed past Potsdam 25-14, 25-15, 25-8.
Allison VanDoren and White both chipped in with seven kills a piece for the "U."
Price handed out 27 assists to lead both teams and Moeller had 21 digs for a match-high. Price racked up nine digs and VanDoren notched eight.
At the conclusion of play, both White and Wyman were named to the All-Invitational team.
The Dutchwomen will be back in action next Friday with a showdown against the #1 seed Golden Knights of Clarkson in the first round of the Liberty League playoffs.
