NEW YORK, NY -- Deshon Burgess scored a game high 21 points with a game best 15 rebounds and the Union College men's basketball team opened the 2014-15 season with a 69-60 win over Old Westbury at the NYU Tournament Saturday night. The Dutchmen take on host New York University for the championship Sunday night at 7 p.m.

Burgess made seven of 12 shots in his double double while playing 37 minutes. Ryan Whelpley pulled down 14 boards and William Hython scored 17 points with Wade McNamara adding 11 off the bench. The Dutchmen shot 37% and had a commanding 54-36 rebounding advatage. Union had a 32-27 lead at halftime.

Omari Trebuse led Old Westbury with 17 poitns and Jaquan Potter scored 12. Dom Bostick had eight rebounds and Justin Mize pulled down seven for Old Westbury,which shot 34% and had 17 turnovers for the night.
