HAMDEN, CT - One game after setting the school record in career saves, senior netminder
Shenae Lundberg set a new personal mark as she stopped a career-high 58 shots as Union fell to #5-Quinnipiac. Lundberg kept the Dutchwomen in the game for the majority of the contest before the Bobcats pulled away late to defeat the "U" 5-0 on Saturday afternoon in ECAC action.
After both teams were not able to find the score column 11 minutes into the opening period, Quinnipiac broke through first on the goal by Cydney Roesler at the 8:40 mark. Nicole Brown recorded the assist on the play.
The Bobcats added another goal at the 7:46 point in the second period. Erica Uden Johansson had the great individual effort as she made a move around a Union defender and put a shot on goal. Lundberg made the save but the rebound went right back to Uden Johansson, who was able to knock it in to give Quinnipiac the 2-0 lead.
Nicole Kosta made it 3-0 Quinnipiac 7:27 minutes into the third. Lundberg initially made the save on Kosta's first shot on goal but Kosta was able to poke it away from Lundberg who was trying to cover the puck in the crease before the whistle was blown.
QU added two more goals in the final four minutes and thirty seconds off the sticks of Emma Woods and Uden Johansson to provide the Bobcats with the 5-0 final margin.
Quinnipiac stymied the Union offense for most of the contest as the Garnet and White were only able to muster eight shots on goal in the contest.
Union will now be on a two-week hiatus before traveling to Northeastern on December 2nd for a non-conference matchup.
