Union Skates to 2-2 Overtime Tie Against Harvard

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union put the skids on a four-game losing streak by managing a 2-2 overtime tie against Harvard in an ECAC Hockey contest played before a sellout crowd of 2,057 at Messa Rink Saturday night.  The eighth-ranked Dutchmen also extended their unbeaten streak versus the Crimson to 10 games (9-0-1).

The Dutchmen rallied from a two-goal deficit and forced overtime when Spencer Foo scored an extra attacker goal on a backhander in front of the net with 46 seconds left in regulation.  The freshman forward has now produced points in nine of 10 games this season.

Max Novak scored his third goal of the season just 1:04 into the second period to spark Union's comeback.  Parked to the right of goaltender Steve Michalek, Novak lifted a shot from close range.

Goaltender Alex Sakellaropoulos, making his second start of the season, kept Union in the game with 31 saves.  The Dutchmen finished with a 44-33 edge in shots to record their first point in league play.

Harvard, which was coming off a 4-0 win at Rensselaer Friday night, jumped to a 2-0 lead on first-period goals from Jimmy Vesey and Brian Hart.  Vesey's goal was off a rebound to the left of Sakellaropoulos and Hart's goal was the result of a deflection in the slot.

Union is home next weekend (Nov. 14-15), hosting Quinnipiac and Princeton.
