Union Icers Take Part in Ice Hockey in Harlem Clinic

NEW YORK – The Union College men's ice hockey team traveled to New York City on Sunday (Dec. 7) to host a clinic with the Ice Hockey In Harlem youth hockey program. Union players skated with children in the Ice Hockey In Harlem program, running skill sessions.  This was the second visit for the Dutchmen, who also hosted a clinic in 2012 with the assistance from Union alumnus and Garnet Blades member Matt Cohen '98.

"We are honored to have been invited and to participate in this event with Ice Hockey In Harlem," Union head coach Rick Bennett said. "It's great that our student-athletes can share their passion for hockey with the kids in this program.

The mission of Ice Hockey In Harlem is to improve the social and academic well-being of children from the Harlem community. IHIH offers programming that allows children in the community to take advantage of the educational and athletic opportunities provided by youth sports. Through participation in ice hockey, IHIH student-athletes learn the fundamentals of the game, engage in an active lifestyle and broaden their life experiences.
