SCHENECTADY, NY – William Hython scored 27 points with 10 rebounds and Terell Winney had 19 points to lead Union College to a 92-71 non-league men's basketball win over Hamilton College Tuesday night at the Viniar Athletic Center. The Dutchmen improved to 4-2 and the Continentals lost for only the second time in nine games this season.

The Dutchmen recorded a season high point total and the Continentals were allowing just 59.4 points per game through their 7-1 start.

Hython posted his ninth career double-double and was one point shy of his career high. Ryan Whelpley scored 15 with eight rebounds and four assists and Deshon Burgess scored 11 with five assists. Kevin Weckworth tallied 10 with five assists as five Dutchmen scored in double figures. Union had a 45-33 rebounding advantage and shot 48% from the floor and 85% (22 for 26) from the line.

The Continentals were led by Ajani Santos, who scored 23 with a team high six rebounds. Joe Pucci added 12 points and Jack Dwyer tallied eight with five assists. Hamilton shot 44%.

Union led 41-32 at halftime, with 10 points off turnovers. Union led by as many as 15 after a Hython layup with 17:36 left in the second half made it 51-36. Hamilton went on a 13-4 run and after a Pucci jumper it was 57-51 with 12:47 left to play. But Union got the lead up to 16 points with a 14-4 run after a WInney three pointer with 7:51 left. The largest lead provided the final as a Burgess dunk with 1:18 left made it 92-71 Union.

The Dutchmen return to action Saturday for another non-league contest. Union will host the University of Rochester at 4 p.m.
