CLERMONT, FL -- The Union College softball team wrapped up the 2014 spring trip in Florida with a 4-2 loss to the University of St. Thomas and an 8-2 defeat to Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Dutchwomen head home with a 5-5 overall record.
In the opener, the Tommies led 4-2 after three band the Dutchwomen got within two on a two run homer by
Camille Corbin in the fifth inning. Corbin had two of Union's five hits.
Aimee Palleschi also had two hits for the Dutchwomen. Jenna Hoffman had three of the Tommies' 11 hits on the day. Annie Boyer got the win with no walks and four strikouts in seven innings.
Whitewater scored one in the first and five in the second in Union's final game in Florida this season. UWW had 14 hits and two three hits and three RBIs from Amy Ricci.
Kristin Schmidt and
Dani Hennel had two hits each for the Dutchwomen. Bekka Houda gave up five hits and one run while striking out eight for Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Union opens the home season April 2 at Alexander Field vs. Utica.
