UTICA, NY -- Aimee Palleschi had six RBIs in the doubleheader for Union but the Dutchwomen were swept by host Utica, 14-6 and 12-7 in non-league softball action Wednesday. The Dutchwomen now stand 5-7 while the Pioneers are 6-5.
In the opener, Palleschi had a three run homer, one of seven Union hits.
Camille Corbin hadded three RBIs and two hits. The Pioneers got three hits and three RBIs each from Christy Traglia and Alysa Russell, and Courtney Fitzgerald drove in four with two hits. Utica had 15 hits in the opening contest that ended with a five run fifth inning for the hosts.
In the nightcap Union had 11 hits, including three with three RBIs from Palleschi, and two hits each from
Dani Hennel and Corbin. Traglia had four of the Pioneers hits and Russell produced seven RBIs on three hits. Kassidy and Meghan Matan had three hits each. Abby Monroe got the win with no earned runs in six innings.
Union will have a Liberty League doubleheader Saturday to open the home season at Alexander Field. The Dutchwomen host Clarkson at 1 p.m. in a twinbill originally scheduled to be on the road.
