Union Downs SUNY Oneonta, 8-6, For Season's First Win

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Union College recorded its first win of the season with an 8-6 nonconference victory over SUNY Oneonta under frigid conditions at All College Field.

Nolan Stauffer and Connor Hall scored goals 14 seconds apart in the first quarter as the Dutchmen jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage.  The Dutchmen (1-1) never trailed, taking a 5-1 lead into halftime.

Paul Wehrum's squad built its biggest lead of the game at 6-1 when Cameron Slatton scored at the 11:24 mark of the third period.

Union led, 8-3, after three quarters before Oneonta cut into the lead with three goals in the final 15 minutes.  The Red Dragons finished with a 33-21 edge in shots, as temperatures dipped to 19 degrees.

Hall and Stauffer scored two goals apiece, leading a group of six players who figured in the scoring. Cameron Slatton, Adam Johnson, Rob Santangelo and Greg Mooney also notched goals. Mooney scored for the second straight game and moved into a share of the team's goal-scoring lead with his third marker of the season.
