SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Thirteen different Dutchwomen tallied at least one goal in a 15-4 win over Bard on Friday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field. With the win, the Dutchwomen move to 6-4 overall and 4-1 in league play while Bard falls to 3-7 and winless in league action.
Jackie Hagopian started a six goal Dutchwomen just 1:37 into the first half. Hagopian was followed by
Emily McGrail,
Jessica Farland,
Laura Pacheco,
Sarah Rider before she tallied her second goal of the contest at 19:17 of the half. The teams continued without another goal until the 5:46 mark when Bard's Alexandra Clarke took a pass from Brianna Bean to get the Raptors on the board. That would be the only Bard goal of the half as the Dutchwomen rattled off three straight goals from Rider,
Kate Kurchena and
Micaela DeSimone to take a 9-1 lead into halftime.
The Dutchwomen started the second half strong by registering two quick goals. The first by
Michele Guyette and the second by senior
Juliette Larzelere, her first tally of the season. Bard would answer the Larzelere goal after a 10-minute scoreless streak as Joanna Regan tallied her first of the day. Allison Hort answered three minutes later for her first tally of the season. Regan would add her second of the half before
Maddie Lewis and
Jacqueline Zannos tallied twice to extend the lead to 14-3. Zannos's goal at 10:57 was her first tally of the season. Joanna Regan would complete the second-half hat trick before
Ashley Allington closed out the scoring by notching her first tally of the year.
Union held the advantage in shots (24-7), ground balls (17-14), draw controls (11-10) and clears (12-4). Bard made two first half saves while leading the match in turnovers with 24 to the Dutchwomen's 22.
Jen Hughes picked up her sixth win of the season after one half of play. She was replaced by
Jessica Malinconico, who saw action in her fourth game of the season, in the second half. Bard goalkeeper Winta Mehari fell to 2-7 on the season in a two save performance.
Union returns to action tomorrow when they host Vassar for the final home game of the season at 4 p.m. A pregame ceremony will be held to honor the four Dutchwomen seniors.
