SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union College freshmen pitchers
Kent Curran and
Dillon Clancy combined for a shutout in the Dutchmen's 11-0 rout of MCLA on Tuesday afternoon at Central Park. With the win the Dutchmen improve to 8-4-1 on the season while the Trailblazers fall to 2-12.
In their first true home game of the season, the Dutchmen posted 9 scoreless innings thanks to Curran and Clancy. Curran pitched eight scoreless innings while striking out seven batters and allowing only five hits. Clancy didn't allow a hit and ended the game on a strikeout in his one inning of work.
The Dutchmen matched a season high in runs thanks to the efforts of senior catcher
David Peretti and sophomore outfielder
Eric Egan, who both recorded two runs batted in. Seniors
Sam Caruso and
Joe Bradlee, junior C.J. Worley and freshman
Jake Fishman also recorded an RBI in the rout. Peretti was perfect on the day, going 3-3 with a hit by pitch. Sophomore center fielder
Chris Carbone came off the bench to go 2-2 and score two runs. Caruso was also active on the basepaths as he swiped three bases and scored three runs.
In total, the Dutchmen posted 11 hits and left eight runners on base. The Trailblazers recorded five hits and left eight runners on base. The Trailblazers had a harder time in the field, recording five errors to the Dutchmen's 3.
The Dutchmen return to action tomorrow when they host Utica for a 4 p.m. matchup at Central Park.
