EDWARDSVILLE, PA – Haley Coleman scored a pair of goals two minutes apart late in the second half to break open a tight game to lead host Wilkes University to a 3-0 victory over Union College in the opening game of the 2014 Colonel Classic. 
Wilkes advances to play in the championship game 
tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. against the winner of game two between Salisbury and Geneseo. Union will face the loser of game two in the consolation game at 12:00 p.m.
Savanah McCauley was solid in net making four saves in the win in her first collegiate game in goal. 
Laura Aptowitz finished with 11 saves for Union in the defeat. 
The teams played to a complete draw in the first half with Wilkes holding a few more scoring chances outshooting Union 8-3 in the opening frame. 
The second half started much of the same with the teams' trading possessions until the Lady Colonels began to dominate possession in the attacking end. Coleman's first strike came at the 60:01 mark off a rebound when Marissa Surdy's shot was saved initially. Coleman found the back of the net on the right post. 
The Wilkes lead grew to 2-0 after another Coleman goal, this time off an assist from Maura Anistranski just 
1:03 later. Stephanie Hahn added an insurance goal off a corner from Anistranski with no time on the clock.
