SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Dutchwomen opened up the 2014 Union Invitational with a sweep over Cortland however they saw thier six-game winning streak come to end in game two against Oneonta.
Union rallied down 2-1 in the fourth set, beating the Red Dragons of Oneonta 25-18 to force a final set. The Dutchwomen led 8-7 at the changeover but Oneonta finished the match off with a 8-3 run to knock off the Garnet and White 18-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-18, 11-15.
Rachel Wyman led the "U" with 10 kills in the match and
Lauren Woods,
Kelley White and
Rajpreet Dhaliwal all tallied nine kills a piece to pace the Union attack.
Amanda Price dished out a match-high 28 assists and
Kat Moeller racked up 29 digs for match-best.
In the first match of the day against Cortland, White led the Garnet and White, putting up a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs. Wyman also collected 11 kills and Moeller added 19 digs to lead Union to the 25-22, 25-23, 25-23 sweep.
Union will conclude the invitational with two matches tomorrow against Saint Michael's and Nazareth beginning at 11am.
