CASTLETON, VT -- Sarah Medd scored two goals and
Hannah Najar added two assists to lead the Union College field hockey team to a 6-0 non-league game at Castleton State Wednesday night.
The Dutchwomen outshot the Spartans, 23-9 and had a 16-5 advantage in penalty corners.
Laura Aptowitz made a save in the first 35 minutes and
Danika Hornick stopped four in her half of play for Union. Meeghan Doris stoped seven and Jess Galtioto stopped two for the hosts.
Medd opened the scoring at 12:44 and Alexi Steriti scored off a rebound from a Najar shot at 15:07. Medd notched her second of the day 6:12 later with a Mulvey assist,
Allison Troy closed out the first half scoring at 34:07 and it was 4-0 lead over Castleton at the half.
Laura Pacheco's goal at 41:03 came on a penalty corner and pass from Steriti. The Dutchwomen closed out the scoring at 65:58 on a score by
Sayyida Hasan off a Mulvey rebound.
Union opens a three game homestand Saturday when the Dutchwomen host RPI at 2 p.m. at Frank Bailey Field.
