SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Union College Volleyball program saw its three game winning streak snapped as the Williams College Ephs defeated the Dutchwomen 25-19, 17-25, 22-25, 13-25 on Tuesday night inside the Viniar Athletic Center.
In the first set, Union went in front 7-6 and never trailed the rest of the way as they picked up the six-point win. In set two, the Ephs raced out to an early 10-4 lead and never let the Dutchwomen get within three points as they evened the match at one set a piece.
The third set was a back-and-forth affair as neither team lead by more than two until Williams took a 24-21 lead en route to the 25-22 win. The Ephs closed the match out in the fourth set, staking claim to a 18-5 advantage before Union went on a 7-3 run to cut the deficit to single-digits at 21-12. But that would be as close as the Dutchwomen (12-4) would get as the Ephs (11-1) closed out the match with a 4-1 run to pick up the 3-1 victory.
Rajpreet Dhaliwal tied for a match-best in kills with 13.
Rachel Wyman added eight more and
Kelley White chipped in with seven of her own to pace the Union attack.
Kat Moeller, who entered the day 11th in the nation with 6.24 digs per set, collected 14 more to lead the Dutchwomen.
Union will be back in action this weekend as they begin Liberty League play. The "U" will face St. Lawrence and Bard on Friday at Clarkson University. Then on Saturday, the Dutchwomen will face off against Vassar and Clarkson at St. Lawrence.
