Goalkeeper
Allison Brustowicz posted her second straight shutout and has helped lead Union to a streak of 94:50 without allowing a goal by an opponent.
Katie Monahan and
Stacey Sylvetsky scored for the Dutchwomen, who won despite being outshot 14-11. With Monahan's goal, Union has now received goal-scoring from the freshmen class in all four games.
Monahan notched her second of the season just 6:35 into the contest. She scored off a rebound of a Sylvetsky drive for the early lead. The Dutchwomen made it 2-0 just over 10 minutes later.
Whitney Bickford fed Sylvetsky, who took a chip shot past the Colonels keeper at 16:41 for her first goal of the season. Union had a 10-2 shot advantage in the first half.
Wilkes (2-2) had a strong second half, with a 12-1 shot advantage, but Brustowicz made seven saves in the second 45 minute period. With 35 minutes left to play, Olivia Schlottmann's corner kick was swiped away by the home keeper. Brittany Gurreri gave Wilkes another great opportunity from the far post but missed wide with 25 minutes left in the second half.
Union returns to action next Saturday (Sept. 13) at St. John Fisher.
