SCHENECTADY, NY -- Cailin Schmeer scored a career high 26 points and the Union College women's basketball team forced 27 turnovers in a 56-47 Liberty League victory over Bard Saturday afternoon at the Viniar Athletic Center. The Dutchwomen improved to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the league, while the Raptors fell to 4-7 and 0-3.
Schmmer made eight on nine free throws and addded seven rebounds for the Dutchwomen.

Natalie Leone added seven points with six rebounds for Union. The Dutchwomen shot 34% but had a 36-35 rebounding edge for the game.
Four players scored in double figures for Bard, led by Tytravia Riley who had 13 with a game high nine rebounds. Liz Freud and Bianka Bell scored 11 each and Andra Moye had 10 points. Bell had seven reobunds, all on the defensive side for the Raptors, who shot 35%.
Union led by as much as 13 in the first half at 20-7 with 8:18 remaining and took an eight point lead into the break at 27-19.
Kate Thompson's layup 33 seconds into the second half made it a 10 point lead, but the Raptors went on a 17-8 run to pull to within one with 10:24 on a Riley layup. That was as close as Bard would get. Bell's three pointer with 55 seconds left pulled the guests to within three at 50-47 but the Dutchwomen came through at the charity stripe, making all six free throws to provide the 56-47 final.
Union has a non-league game Monday night at home against SUNY Cobleskill. Game time at the Viniar Athletic Center is 7 p.m.
