POTSDAM, NY - The Union College women's hockey program fell to eighth-ranked Clarkson 4-0 on Friday night inside Cheel Arena.
Senior goaltender
Shenae Lundberg made 35 stops on the evening. It was the 12th time on the season where the Peteborough, NH native made 30 or more stops in a game.
The Golden Knights made it 1-0 just 2:30 into the first period as Jessica Gillham tipped in a shot from Daniella Matteucci. Clarkson would make it 2-0 at 14:45 as the Golden Knights captilized on the power play as senior Erin Ambrose found her classmate Cayley Mercer on the back post for a tap-in.
With 13 seconds left to play in the second period, Ambrose ripped a shot from the top and the rebound fell to the stick of freshman Amanda Titus who knocked in the puck to increase Clarkson's lead to 3-0.
Clarkson would tag on a fourth goal at 4:24 in the final period. Titus won the puck behind the net and passed to classmate Brielle Bellerive in the slot and her backhand shot found the back of the net.
Union will look to snap their current five-game losing skid tomorrow afternoon as they take on the Saints of St. Lawrence. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4:00pm.
