Hockey Dutchmen Lose To Colgate, 5-4

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union dropped its third-straight league game with a 5-4 setback to Colgate in a back-and-forth battle at Messa Rink on Saturday night.

Union opened a 3-1 lead just 30 seconds into the third period on Ryan Scarfo's power play goal before Colgate stormed back with four goals.  Tylor Spink scored the game-winner with 3:23 left in regulation on assists from Tyson Spink and Kyle Baun.

Joe Wilson scored two goals for the Raiders, as did Daniel Ciampini for the home side.  Ciampini now has 15 goals in his last nine games and stands at 99 points for his career.  He also leads the team with 17 markers.

Colgate twice fought back from two-goal deficits, and scored two times in a 12-second span in the third period on goals from Emilio Audi and Kyle Baun to claim their first lead at 4-3.  Union answered on Matt Wilkin's seventh-goal of the year to make it 4-4 at the 14:06 mark, setting up the dramatic game-winner from Tyson Spink.

Up next for Union is a non-conference game against Rensselaer (Jan. 24) at the Capital District Mayor's Cup in Albany.
