SCHENECTADY, NY - The Dutchwomen fell to the #6 Harvard on Friday night by a score of 7-1.
Hannah Erickson provided the lone goal for Union in the contest.
Harvard scored four times in the span of 8:29 in the opening period to take a 4-0 lead. After the Crimson's third goal of the stanza,
Alexx Ridding replaced
Shenae Lundberg to make her first career collegiate appearance. Ridding finished with 19 saves in her 49:34 minutes of action.
Union almost held Harvard off the scoreboard in the second period but upon further review, replays showed that Samantha Reber deflected in Brianna Mastel's shot with 0.1 seconds left on the clock to take a 5-0 lead before the second intermission.
Following a pair of Crimson goals in the final period,
Hannah Erickson got the Dutchwomen on the scoreboard as she pocketed her second goal of the season off the feed from her sister
Emily Erickson and
Erica Kelly.
Union won the faceoff battle 27-25 behind
Erica Kelly's 7-6 mark while
Rebecca Babiak went 7-7 in the circle.
The Dutchwomen will be back in action tomorrow in the 8th Annual Pink at the Rink Game. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4:00pm. The Dutchwomen ask all fans to please wear pink to show their support. Admission will be free to all Union students and all children 12 and under.
