TROY, N.Y. - Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (8-5, 3-2) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first half and went on to a 5-1 Liberty League victory over visiting Union College (5-9, 0-5) at Harkness Field on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Jen Nawfel was RPI's offensive standout as she scored her seventh goal of the season and added three assists.
Nawfel's unassisted goal gave RPI a 1-0 lead with 18:05 elapsed. She gathered a rebound and snuck it past goalkeeper
Laura Aptowitz.
Senior Angela Cascio upped the lead to 2-0 when she scored off a Nawfel assist on a penalty corner at 20:33. With 3:12 left in the half, Hana Murphy gave RPI a 3-0 lead when she scored an unassisted goal.
With 1:50 remaining in the half, Colleen Fowler scored off a pass from Nawfel to give RPI a 4-0 advantage.

Rachel Andreana assisted.In the second half, Cascio scored her second goal of the game off a pass from Nawfel at the 50:04 mark.
RPI outshot Union by a 30-7 margin, including a 17-3 advantage in the first half. Aptowitz finished with 12 saves for the Dutchwomen.
Union returns to action on Friday, October 23 when it hosts Vassar at 4:30 p.m.
