SCHENECTADY, NY -- The Union College men's soccer team lost on Senior Day to Skidmore, 1-0 Saturday. But despite the news, the Dutchmen won a tie breaker and earned the #4 seed in next week's Liberty League Tournament. Union will play at top seed St. Lawrence on Wednesday.
Todd Jensen provided the lone scoring with a penalty kick at 6:02, as his drive went to the left of the keeper. The Thoroughbreds improved to 8-5-2 overall and 4-3 in the Liberty League, while the Dutchmen finish the regular season with a record of 10-3-4 overall and 3-2-3 in the league. Skidmore plays in the other Liberty League semifinal Wednesday at second seed Hobart.
Skidmore had a slim 12-10 shot advantage and Union had four corners to the Thoroughbreds' one.
John Weitzman made seven saves for Union while Eli Kisselbach stopped four for Skidmore.
