Dutchwomen Down Castleton

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Union College women's soccer team defeated Castleton University 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Turf at College Park.

Castleton struck first 22 minutes into the first half as Shelby McLenithan scored off a Mallory Costello assist. 11 minutes later, Union tied up the score off a solo goal from Katie Monahan.  With four minutes left in the first period, Breana Derella lined up for a corner kick and found Keriann Mackey's head for the Dutchwomen's second goal.

Following the second half, the Dutch took 16 shots, which led to another solo goal from Monahan to give the team a 3-1 lead and the victory.

Castleton's goalie, Kasie Wilk made 11 saves off 29 shots, where Union's Erica Matteo made one save on three four shots.

The Dutchwomen return to the field to face cross-town rival and conference foe RPI on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m., at the Turf at College Park.
