SCHENECTADY, NY -- Amanda Titus and Kelly Mariani scored two goals each to lead #4 Clarkson University to a 6-0 win at Union College in an ECAC Hockey women's contest at Messa Rink Friday night. The Golden Knights are now 10-0-2 and 1-0-2 in ECAC Hockey while Union is 0-6-4 and 0-1-2.
Clarkson outshot Union, 56-8 for the night, as Union goaltender
Melissa Black made 50 saves, including 21 in the third period. Shea Tiley made eight stops for the guests.
Clarkson opened the scoring at 5:10 as Mariani tipped in a shot from the left point with the assist on the point shot by Corie Jacobson. 1:49 later, Titus tallied with a shot in close from the left side. Her goal was assisted by Briel Bellerive and Genevieve Bannon. Titus made it 3-0 as she converted a pass to the right side near the post at 16:44. Josian Pozzebon and Loren Gabel assisted and it was 3-0 after one.
At 12:41 of the second, Lauren Lefler converted a rebound off a shot from the mid point, with Jacobson and Jessica Gillham assisting. It was the only scoring of the second stanza.
The Golden Knights added two more in the third. Kelly Mariani's fifth of the year at 14:05 was assisted by Olivia Howe and Erin Ambrose. Mariani got her own rebound on the left doorstep. Rhyen McGill's sixth came with 3:17 remaining, assisted by Titus and Gabel, on a shot from between the circles.
Clarkson plays at RPI Saturday at 4 p.m. while Union hosts St. Lawrence at 4 p.m.
