Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Union Records Last-Second Win over Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – In a game that had it all, Charlie Ross saved his best for last.

Ross redirected a rebound in mid-air with 0.4 seconds left on the clock to lift Union to a 14-13 win over Wesleyan, as the Dutchman passed their first road test of the season.  As a result, fourth-ranked Union remains perfect (4-0) on the season.

Ross, who came in with back-to-back hat tricks, continued his hot streak by scoring the game-winner, setup when Paul Alberti's shot was saved by goalkeeper Justin Schick, but popped free.

The see-saw battle generated nine lead changes, and even produced a hidden ball trick from the Dutchmen when Peter Richardson scored at 6:15 of the fourth quarter after Nolan Stauffer served as a decoy.

Wesleyan built a 4-1 lead after the first quarter, but Union managed to rally back, pulling even at 6-6 by halftime.

Richardson finished with a team-high five points (2 goals, 3 assists) while Richard Gregory produced four points (3-1).  Connor Hall won 13 faceoffs and pounced on seven ground balls.  The Cardinals received a 7-point (3-4) afternoon from Harry Stanton and a 6-point effort from Matt Prezioso (3-3).

Union travels to Springfield on Saturday.
