KINGSTON, NY – The Union College women's lacrosse team followed up Friday's overtime victory over Vassar with a decisive 15-1 win over Bard on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchwomen improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Liberty League. Bard is 0-5, 0-2.
The one goal allowed was the fewest goals scored by a Union women's lacrosse opponent since April 23, 2010. Union defeated Clarkson at home that day, also by a 15-1 score.
Eight different players scored for Union, which put 21 of its 27 shots on goal. Freshman
Cailin Pandolfi scored the first two goals of the game, including one 19 seconds in, and finished with three goals.
Emily McGrail had five points (three goals, two assists), while
Haley Gould,
Laura Pacheco and
Allison Horst added two goals apiece.
The Dutchwomen enjoyed a 28-18 edge in ground balls and went 10-for-12 on clears, while holding Bard to 5-of-16 on clears and forcing 27 turnovers. Bard broke up the shutout with 6:55 left on an unassisted goal by Joanna Regan.
