Union Downs SUNY Oneonta, 15-6

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union received goal-scoring from nine players to defeat SUNY Oneonta, 15-6, in non-conference action from Frank Bailey Field.

The fourth-ranked Dutchmen built a 4-1 lead after the first quarter on a pair of goals from Charlie Ross, who finished with a hat trick. Cam Slatton added a pair of tallies in the second quarter, and defender Adam Sands ripped a shot from long range in helping the Garnet to an 8-2 halftime lead.

Union's biggest lead occurred at the 8:35 mark of the third quarter when Nolan Stauffer scored to make it a 10-goal defict (12-2).  The Red Dragons scored two quick goals to open the fourth quarter, forcing a timeout on Union's behalf, but never drew closer than an eight-goal margin.  Connor Coyle scored three goals for Oneonta, which suffered its first loss of the season.

Coach Paul Wehrum used three goalkeepers in the contest, as starter Stefan Basile played 32 minutes before giving way to freshman Sam Bebout, who made his collegiate debut.  Samuel Broda finished the game.

Besides Ross and Slatton, Union's multiple-goal scorers included Paul Alberti (2), Richard Gregory (2) and Tom Stanton (2).  Peter Richardson chipped in with three assists and recorded team-highs with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

The Garnet and White will host Babson on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
