Union Triumphs over Babson, 10-4

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union remained unbeaten following a 10-4 victory over Babson in non-conference action from Frank Bailey Field. Saturday's win capped a successful week for the fourth-ranked Dutchmen, who won all three home games to open the season.

Spencer Low scored 2:13 into the opening period to give Babson its only lead of the game.  Union kept the Beavers off the board the rest of the quarter and went on a 6-0 run, eventually building a 6-3 halftime lead.

Union's defense took over in the second half allowing just one goal, as goalkeeper Stefan Basile finished with 16 saves and defender Adam Sands forced four turnovers.  Garnet special teams killed eight-of-nine man-down situations while scoring on their only man-up opportunity.

Offensively, Union had four players who recorded three-point games.  Charlie Ross notched a hat trick (three goals), while Richard Gregory (2-1) and Peter Richardson (2-1) compiled two goals each.  Richardson leads the team in scoring with 12 points in three contests.  Adam Rosenthal (1-2) chipped in with two assists and scored his first goal of the year. Daniel Kycia also scored his first goal of the season.

Coach Paul Wehrum's squad will hit the road for six straight games, returning home on April 4.  Union travels to Wesleyan this Wednesday (March 11).
