Union Downs William Smith 15-4, at Bailey Field

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union remained undefeated in Liberty League play following a 15-4 win over William Smith Saturday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field.  Winners in five of their last six games, the Dutchwomen improved to 5-0 in league action and 7-3 overall.

Maggie Comiskey distributed seven assists (and compiled eight points total) and Jackie Hagopian scored four goals while Emily McGrail and Cailin Pandolfi provided three goals each in a game the Dutchwomen led for 52 minutes.

Allie Flaherty gave WSC a 1-0 lead on a quick strike 3:07 into the contest before Union pulled even on Natalie Sullivan's goal at 22:33.  From that point, Union went on a 8-0 run to build a 9-1 lead at halftime.

William Smith's Alexandra Bird scored just 13 seconds into the second half to cut the lead to seven goals, the closest the visitors would get the rest of the day.  Union opened a 10-goal margin at the 11:02 mark and used the running clock to put the game out of reach.

The Herons were led offensively by Flaherty and Bird, who both scored a pair of goals.

Goalkeeper Kim Grinhaus made seven saves in 49 minutes of action before giving way to Jen Hughes.

Union travels to St. Lawrence next Friday (April 17).
