Union Falls to top-ranked RIT, 22-7

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union saw its four-game winning streak snapped with a 22-7 loss to No. 1-ranked RIT in Liberty League action from Frank Bailey Field.

The Tigers, who entered as the nation's top-scoring team, pulled away in the second quarter with a 9-2 run, opening up a 14-6 lead by halftime.  RIT's defense then held Union to just one goal in the second half.

Union started the game strong, taking a 3-1 lead seven minutes in behind goals from Peter Richardson, Tom Stanton and Jack Scheufele.  RIT, however, rallied and took the lead for good at 5-4 with 1:08 left in the first quarter on Steven Ricci's goal.

RIT received six-point performances (and four goals each) from Eddie Kiesa and Ryan Lee.  Goalkeeper Pat Johnston made several key second-half saves and finished with 10 total.

Charlie Ross scored his team-leading 31st goal to extend his goal-scoring streak to 13 games.  Nolan Stauffer added three assist for a team-best four points on the afternoon.  Union finished 0-for-8 on man-up situations.

The Garnet and White travel to Vassar this Saturday (April 18).
