Union Records 16-10 Road Win at Montclair State

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Union ran its win streak to three games, and bolstered its NCAA postseason chances in the process, with a 16-10 win over Montclair State on a cold and cloudy night at Sprague Field.  It was the first meeting between the schools since a 2012 NCAA Tournament encounter, which the Dutchmen won.

Union became the first Liberty League school to beat Montclair State this season, downing the three-time defending Skyline Conference champions with an early offensive surge and never relinquishing the lead.  The Dutchmen jumped to a 7-0 lead, keeping the home team off the board for the first 14 minutes of the game.

The Garnet tacked on five more tallies in the second quarter to build a 13-3 halftime lead.  MSU outscored Union, 7-3, in the second half, but never drew closer than six goals.

Coach Paul Wehrum received heavy offensive contributions from three of the team's top four scorers as Charlie Ross and Richard Gregory scored five goals apiece, while Cam Slatton stockpiled four assists and Peter Richardson added three assists and four points total. Ross extended his goal-scoring streak to 11 games and now has a team-leading 29 goals on the season.

Connor Hall was dominate on faceoffs, winning 18-of-22 draws, and gathered a team-best nine ground balls.  The 11th-ranked Dutchmen also struck three times on man-up situations.

Union travels to Rensselaer on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. start at ECAV Stadium.
