Clark Leads Dutchwomen to a 2-0 Home Opener

SCHENECTADY, NY—The Union volleyball team opened at home with two five-set victories to continue their 7-0 streak. Morgan Clark and Rachel Wyman led the way hitting .442 with 22 kills and .256 with 32 kills, respectively.

The Dutchwomen won their first match against SUNY Cortland, 21-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-17, 15-13. Union fell early, but rallied back to tie up the sets 1-1. After dropping a close third set the "U" claimed the fourth decisively 25-17. Before clinching the match with a score of 15-13. Outside hitter Wyman had 19 kills while Clark had 12. Setter Amanda Price registered a double-double with 50 assists and 14 digs. While Katherine Moeller grabbed 22 digs.

Union volleyball downed nationally-ranked No. 18 Williams 25-20, 14-25, 26-24, 16-25, 15-9. The Dutch started strong never letting the Purple Cows pull within more than four. Williams made some adjustments to post a strong second-set victory. Union wouldn't give in as they pulled out a close third-set victory. The Eephs and Dutchwomen battled back-and-forth before Williams pulled away a 25-16 fourth set victory. For the third time in less than a week, the Dutch won a fifth-set to win the match. Wyman, Clark and Kelley White contributed 13 and 10 kills, respectively. While Price posted her second double-double of the year with 33 assists and 13 digs. Moeller added 21 digs at the libero spot. 

The Dutch continue play at the Union Invitational on Saturday at 11am against SUNY Oneonta and at 3pm vs St. Michael's at Viniar Athletic Center.
