Union Edges Drew, 3-2, at Frank Bailey Field

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Allison Cosentino's first collegiate goal of the season proved most timely, lifting Union to a 3-2 win over Drew in nonconference action from Frank Bailey Field on Saturday. Union improved to 2-1 while Drew dropped to 1-4.

Cosentino accepted a pass from Laura Pacheco and launched a shot from 15 yards that proved to be the game-winner at the 58:55 mark.  The Dutchwomen also received goals from Angelina Stewart (1) and Alexa Steriti (2).  Stewart deflected a shot into the upper corner of the net to give Union an early 1-0 lead.  Steriti converted on a penalty stroke in the 43rd minute.

Michele Pozyc scored for the Rangers at the 28:54 mark to knot the game at 1-1 before halftime.  Michelle Fallon added a second half tally for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Union finished with a 32-21 shot advantage, as Drew goalkeeper Ryann Callaghan finished with 13 saves.  Laura Aptowitz turned away 10 shots for the Garnet, who remained unbeaten at home (2-0).

Kelly Harchetts' squad travels to SUNY New Paltz on Tuesday.
