SCHENECTADY, NY—The Union College women's soccer team defeated Westfield State 3-0 on Wednesday evening.
The Dutchwomen and Owls battled back and forth throughout the first half. Union tallied two saves on three shots while Westfield grabbed eight on 10 shots.
The teams continued to battle during the beginning of the second half until
Breana Derella went for a free kick and landed it into the back of the net to put the Dutchwomen up 1-0. 15 minutes later,
Jessica Farland headed the ball into the cage off a pass from Derella. Less than 45 seconds later,
Michaela Brophy landed the third goal for Union off an assist from Farland.
The Dutchwomen continue their three-game homestand against Castleton on October 4 at 2 p.m., at Turf at College Park.Â
