SCRANTON, PA.—The Union College volleyball team went 2-0 on the opening day at the Scranton Invitational.Â
The Dutchwomen started strong downing Cedar Crest College 3-0 (25-8, 25-8, 25-9). The team accrued 27 kills over the three-set match. The U were led by
Kelley White and
Alyssa Bonesteel with seven kills each, along with
Abby Salamone with 16 sets and
Katherine Moeller with 10 digs.Â
Union followed it up with another quick 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-13) victory over Wesley College.
Lauren Woods garnered 11 kills, while
Amanda Price had 28 assists and Moeller added 11 extra digs to her total. The team posted eight service aces including one by Salamone to win the match.Â
This is the first time in seven years that the Dutch have started a season with a 3-0 record.Â
The Dutchwomen face Wentworth Institute of Technology tomorrow at 11:30 a.m., followed up with finals play at a yet to be determined time.
