SCRANTON, PA.—The Union College volleyball team won the Scranton Invitational after beating Wentworth Institute of Technology and Oswego State on Saturday.
The Dutchwomen defeated WIT 3-0 (25-15, 26-24, 25-17),
Kelley White led the team with 11 kills, while
Morgan Clark contributed five aces and
Amanda Price added 32 assists. The team only trailed once, in the second set when the Leopards took a 24-21, before the "U" won the next five points to claim the set.
With the win over WIT, Union faced Oswego State in the tournament finals. The Dutchwomen dropped the first set 20-25, before battling back to claim the second 25-19. The "U" went back and forth with the Lakers before dropping the third set 26-24. After making some adjustments, Union came back and grabbed the fourth set 28-26 and then strongly seized the match with a 15-7 fifth set victory.
Against Oswego State,
Amanda Price had a double-double with 62 assists and 10 digs.
Rachel Wyman led the team with 17 kills, Ally VanDoren had 15 kills,
Kelley White had 13 kills and
Morgan Clark had 12.
Katherine Moeller accumulated 28 digs.
Alyssa Bonesteel was named to the all-tournament after having 22 kills with 11 aces on the weekend.
The Dutchwomen return home for their home opener in the Union Invitational on Sept. 11 at 4 p.m., against SUNY Cortland.
