SCHENECTADY, NY--The Union College Dutchwomen continue their 2015-16 season with a mid-week game against Syracuse. The Dutchwomen are in search of their first win of the season as they fell to No. 10 Princeton and #4/4 Quinnipiac last weekend. Syracuse is looking to add another victory after tying Colgate on Jan. 4.

Melissa Black tallied her 700th save of the season while putting up 48 saves in the game. Union posted 25 blocked shots.

After nine minutes of play, Quinnipiac posted their first goal as Nicole Brown popped one behind Black off assists from Kristen Tamberg and Melissa Samoskevich. The Bobcats led the Dutchwomen 1-0 at the end of the first period.

In the second period, Union held Quinnipiac for about 16 minutes until Nicole Connery chipped in a puck from the right side from Shannon Cherpak and Tamberg. Three minutes later, Nicole Kosta quietly slid the puck in Black's left side off a Lindsey West assist.

The Dutchwomen trailed the Bobcats 3-0 going into the third period. Meghan Turner passed in a shot that ricocheted off Black's left pads and bounced into the back of the net to put Quinnipiac up 4-0. With 30 seconds left, Taylar Cianfarano put her 19th goal of the season into the back of the net from an Emma Woods and Connery assist.

Black's Leading the PackMelissa Black tallied her 700th career save against No. 4/4 Quinnipiac on Saturday. The goalie ranks ninth in the NCAA in save percentage (.936). She ranks fifth in the ECAC in save percentage. Black ranks twenty-fourth in goals-against-average (2.57). Currently, she has 707 saves in 1121:03 minutes between the posts. She averages 37.2 saves per game, only allowing 48 goals (2.52 goals/game).

Scouting the OrangeSyracuse has a 8-10-3 record this season (5-1-2 in CHA play). Melissa (7-15-22) Piacentini and Stephanie Grossi (6-16-22) lead the team with 22 points followed by Jessica Sibley with 19 points (7-12-19) and Nicole Ferrara with 18 points (9-9-18). Goaltender Jenn Gilligan has played in 19 games and has a 2.47 goals-against-average and a .885 save percentage, with a 7-9-3 record. Netkeepr Maddi Welch has made two appearances and has a 3.81 goals-against-average and a .864 save percentage with one loss. Abbey Miller has played in three games for a 1-0-0 record and a 1.57 goals-against-average and a .882 save percentage.
