Union outshot RPI 16-9 in the first period first period, but the action was back-and-forth with the two teams combining for four goals.
Nanne gave RPI a 1-0 lead 50 seconds in to the game, jamming home a rebound from the backhand after Bradley's initial shot was stopped by Sakellaropoulos.
The Dutchmen answered1:37 later, as Lichtenwald netted his fourth of the season from a rebound with assists from Maier and Brassard.
The Engineers pulled back in front at 13:08 with a blast from the point by Mike Prapavessis, but again Union was quick to respond, converting on its first power-play opportunity at 15:17 to knot the game at 2-2.
Scarfo had a couple of whacks at a loose puck at the bottom of the left faceoff circle before eventually flipping a backhand past Kasdorf for his team-leading 12th goal and sixth power-play goal of the season.
RPI took its third lead of the game at 13:04 of the second on DeVito's first goal of the year. Jesper Ohrvall drove down the left wing and sent the puck to the front of the net and DeVito redirected the feed past the outstretched glove of Sakellaropoulos.
The Dutchmen came close to equalizing on the power play midway through the third period, but Kasdorf denied
Mike Vecchione's shot from close range before batting the rebound out of harms way with his blocker.
Hampton gave the Engineers some breathing room with 3:55 remaining in regulation. After Jake Wood's shot from the left faceoff circle was blocked, the puck was cleared onto Hampton's stick in the high slot and he buried a wrist shot to make it 4-2.
Melanson sealed the win for RPI with an empty net goal at 18:50 of the third.
