Women's soccer plays to 2-2 tie at St. Lawrence

CANTON, NY—The Union College women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to nine (6-0-3) with a 2-2 Liberty League tie against ST. Lawrence, Friday evening at Sandy Macalister Field.

The Dutchwomen go to 6-3-3 overall and 2-0-2 in the Liberty League, while the Saints move to 7-3-3 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play.

Katie Monahan led the Union offense with a goal and an assist, extending her point streak to four games. First-year Morgan Dominick scored her second goal of the season and Aly Leahy produced a point for the third straight game with an assist.

Dominick put Union in front 16:26 into play, collecting a Monahan through ball and slotting a strike inside the left post from the top of the 18-yard box.

The Dutchwomen doubled their lead from a corner just 51 seconds later when Monahan converted on a rebound inside the six-yard box. Leahy's initial volley was stopped by a St. Lawrence defender, but Monahan pounced on the rebound for her team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Lindsay Geier cut the Saints deficit in half, curling a strike into the top right corner with 14:50 remaining in the half.
St. Lawrence equalized in the 81st minute when Emily Wade lofted a shot inside the far post from the right wing, sending the game to overtime.

After neither team registered a shot on goal in the first half of overtime, Dutchwomen goalkeeper Kelsey Hartsoe and Saints goalkeeper Samantha Allen each made one save in the second overtime period to preserve the tie.
Union takes on Clarkson at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15.
