TROY, NY—Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) scored two goals in a 1:58 span in the second half to secure a 2-0 win against the Union College women's soccer team, Tuesday night at East Campus Stadium.
The Dutchwomen, who had their 10-game unbeaten streak snapped, move to 6-4-4 overall and 2-3-1 in Liberty League play, while the Engineers go to 12-3-0 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
After 77 scoreless minutes, RPI broke the deadlock at 77:05 when Ali Zumpetta converted on a header after rising to meet Jacqui Richard's corner.
Cori Winslow doubled the lead at 79:03, running on to an Emily Kaplan cross and slotting home the finish.
The Engineers held the Dutchwomen without a shot on goal over the final 34 minutes, helping goalkeeper Joey Lyons preserve her league-leading ninth shutout.
