SCHENECTADY, NY—Kara Shue registered five points to propel No. 1 William Smith College to a 4-0 win against the Union College women's soccer team, Saturday afternoon at College Park.
The Dutchwomen go to 6-5-4 overall and 2-2-3 in the Liberty League, while the Herons, who set a program record with their 15th consecutive win, improve to 15-0-0 and 7-0-0 in league play. With the win, William Smith also clinched the Liberty League regular season title and
Kristina Camaj gave the Herons a 1-0 lead, tallying in the 21st minute on a feed from Shue.
William Smith pulled away in the second half, scoring three goals to secure the 4-0 win.
Shue doubled the lead in the 51st minute with her league-leading 11
th goal of the season. Camaj added her second of the game in the 62
nd minute and Laura Randaccio capped the scoring in the 78
th minute. Both goals were the result of Shue assists.
Kelsey Hartsoe played all 90 minutes in goal for the Dutchwomen, making nine saves. The Herons finished with 20-2 advantage in shots and a 5-2 lead in corners.
Union, which currently sits one point out of the final Liberty League playoff spot, hosts Albany College of Pharmacy at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26. The Dutchwomen close out the regular season at home on Saturday, Oct. 29, hosting Vassar.
