Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Loses 1-0 in Overtime to Hobart

GENEVA, NY - The Union College men's soccer lost a cloesly contested 1-0 game to Hobart College in overtime in Geneva, NY.

The game was moved back to 5:00 p.m. due to the wet conditions. The rain seemed to slow down the product on the field as well as neither team was able to get the ball into the attacking third with much success.

In the first half, the teams combined for five total shots with the Statemen registering the only two shots on goal as forward Nick Dosky found the frame only to be stopped by Union keeper John Weitzman.

The second half provided much of the same as both teams could not find the score column until Ethan Strauss put one on net only to be saved by Hobart keeper Alec Kaminer.

The game would go to overtime tied at 0-0 but, just seven minutes into the extra frame the deadlock was broken. The ball entered the box and the Statemen's Nate Cary ripped a shot that took a deflection before beating Weitzman and ended the game in the 97th minute of play.

The Dutchmen will be back on the pitch on Wednesday as they travel to Poughkeepsie to take on Vassar in another Liberty League clash.Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
