Linsey Giles each scored a pair of goals to lead the Union College women's soccer team to an 8-2 win against Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Wednesday night at College Park.
The Dutchwomen move to 7-5-4, while the Lady Panthers go to 10-5-1.
Julia Kipp and
Kylie Stevens rounded out the scoring for Union.
Kelsey Hartsoe and
Erica Matteo split time in goal, each making three saves.
The Dutchwomen pulled away quickly, netting four goals in the first half. Sturno opened the scoring on a cross from
Michelle Staples in the 14th minute. She added her second of the day 28:10 into the frame, collecting a feed from
Keriann Mackey inside the 18-yard box and slotting a shot inside the far post.
Giles extended the lead to 4-0 with two goals in a 3:24 span.
Morgan Dominick picked up an assist on Giles' first of the game.
Union added to its lead quickly in the second half when Monahan chipped the goalkeeper in the 57
th minute for her team-leading sixth of the season.
Albany Pharmacy cut its deficit to 5-2 with back-to-back goals from Erin Tersegno and Kayli Smith, but that's as close as it would get.
Monahan notched her second in the 79
th minute on an assist from
Victoria Marotta, and
Julia Kipp and
Kylie Stevens each scored in the final 2:18 to seal the 8-2 win. First-year midfielder
Isabelle Russo collected her first career point with an assist on Kipp's tally.
Sally Slowinski made 10 saves for Albany Pharmacy in the first half, while Kennedy Rives stopped five shots in the second. The Dutchwomen outshot the Lady Panthers 41-11 and held an 11-3 edge in corner kicks.
Union, which sits one point behind St. Lawrence for the final Liberty League playoff spot, closes out the regular season Saturday, Oct. 29, hosting Vassar.
