Dutchwomen travel to Orono, ME for clash with Black Bears

ORONO, ME - The Union College women's hockey team travels to Orono, ME to face the University of Maine Black Bears in a two game set on Friday and Saturday at Harold Alfond Sports Arena.

What's On Tap
The Dutchwomen are back on the road as they travel to Maine to take on the Black Bears on Friday (Dec. 9) and Saturday (Dec. 10). Last season Union went 0-1-1 against Maine as Alli Devins and Emily Otten netted the goals in the 2-2 tie on Dec. 12, 2015.

Last Time Out
The Union College women's hockey team fell to Princeton on Saturday afternoon at Messa Rink.
The Tigers netted seven goals in route to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Dutchwomen as Princeton had seven different goal scorers.
They opened up the scoring at the 4:19 mark of the first period when Kiersten Falck beat Union goalie Amelia Murray as the puck just trickled over the line. Initially called no goal on the ice, the referees determined it a good goal upon video review.
Claire Thompson added to their lead as she took a pass from Falck and put it in the back of the net to make it 2-0 after one period.
Murray would remain busy in the second period but, she was up to the task stopping all 14 Tiger shots on goal. She made 32 saves in total.

Scouting the Black Bears
Maine has started the season 4-12-1 (2-8-1 HEA) coming a 6-3 exhibition win over Mount Allison University (NB). Prior to that the Black Bears had a split a two game set with Dartmouth College in Orono, ME. The Big Green grabbed a 4-0 shutout in the first game while Maine won 3-2 the next night as Lydia Murray shorthanded goal in the second period proved to be the game winner. Maine's offense is paced by Tereza Vanisova who leads the team with 19 PTS (10G 9A) while Brooke Stacey (7G, 5A) and Vendula Pribylova (3G, 9A) each have 12 points on the season.

All-Time vs. Maine
This is the 19th and 20th meeting all-time between Union College and University of Maine. The Dutchwomen have a record of 5-8-5 against the Black Bears dating back to 2003 when the series started. Since 2012, Union has gone 4-2-2 in the series including a record a 2-1-1 in Orono, ME.

The Dutchwomen return home to face Minnesota St.-Mankato on Friday (Dec. 16) and Saturday (Dec. 17) at Messa Rink. Union went 0-1-1 against the Mavericks as Kathryn Tomaselli scored both goals in a 2-2 tie on Sept. 25, 2015.
