Last week, former Union College men's lacrosse defenseman Kyle McQuiggan '14 returned to campus to speak about his experience and his findings from a 64-day expedition to the North Pole in a talk entitled "To the Top of the World and Back Again: A 64 Day GEOTRACES Arctic Cruise to the North Pole."
(L-to-R) Head Coach Paul Wehrum, Kyle McQuiggan, Assistant Head Coach Derek Witheford, Jim McQuigganMcQuiggan, who completed his degree in geology, traveled to the North Pole as part of a trip run by the U.S. branch of GEOTRACES to establish baseline measurements of chemicals in the Arctic (water, ice, sediment, snow and air).
A 2014 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-American, McQuiggan is currently working towards his master's degree in chemical oceanography at Old Dominion University.
