CLERMONT, FL -- Jessica Farland scored three goals to lead the Union College women's lacrosse team to a 12-9 win over Williams College Wednesday at the National Training Center. The Dutchwomen evened their season record to 2-2 while the Ephs are 3-3. Both teams received votes in this week's IWLCA Division III national poll.
Maggie Comiskey and
Jackie Hagopian each had two goals and an assist for Union.
Natalie Sullivan also
Cailin Pandolfi also scored twice and
Kellie Cronin added the other goal.
Jen Hughes got the win in the net with eight saves. Farland had a game best five ground balls. Union had slight edge in ground balls, 18-17, and was nine for 14 on clears while converting four of six free position opportunities.
Williams was led by Emma Tenbarge, who scored three goals, while Micaeal Dussel and Alyssa maddalone tallied twice each. Jenna Chodos and Eleanor Lustig had one goal each while Dussel added an assist. The Ephs outshot the Dutchwomen, 23-18, and won 12 of 23 draw controls.
Union had an 8-4 lead at halftime and led by as many as five at 12-7 with 4:02 left on a Hagopian goal. Williams scored the final two in the last 2:45. It was Union's first win over the Ephs since 2011.
Union heads back North and will play a non-league game at Emerson Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
