Dutchmen Down St. John Fisher

SCHENECTADY, NY—The Union College men's lacrosse team defeated St. John Fisher 11-5 on Wednesday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field. The Dutchmen extend their record to 5-3.

The Cardinals struck first scoring just four minutes into the first period, but the Dutchmen took the lead with goals by Daniel Kycia and Kyle Mason. Both of the goals were unassisted and Union lead 2-1 entering the second quarter.

In the second, St. John Fisher scored again early, but Union tallied four consecutive goals to lead 6-2 at the half. Jack Scheufele found the back of the net first, followed by two Kycia goals (one with an assist from Nolan Stauffer). Stauffer racked one in off a Cam Slatton assist.  

Only one goal was scored in the third period, which was Scheufele's second of the game. It was assisted by Stauffer.

The Dutchmen tallied four additional goals in the fourth quarter. John Edmonds and Alex Newhouse found the back of the net for their first career goals. While Stauffer and Charlie McGovern each tallied a point also.

Sam Bebout spent 57:15 in goal and recorded 11 saves. Lance Lonergan Jr., tallied four groundballs and Tom Lawton went 11-for-15 on the faceoff X.

The Dutchmen travel to the North Country to take on Liberty League opponent Clarkson on April 2 at 12 p.m.
