POTSDAM, NY—The Union College men's lacrosse team defeated Liberty League foe Clarkson 11-9 on Saturday afternoon in Potsdam, N.Y.
Union took an early lead to open the game with
Jack Scheufele and
Daniel Kycia each scoring goals. Clarkson evened out the score at 2-2 when
Lance Lonergan Jr., raced down the field and found the back of the net to put the Dutch up 3-2. The Golden Knights countered with two late goals to take a 4-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Golden Knights recorded an early goal before
Paul Alberti and
Peter Richardson tied it up at 5-5. Clarkson tallied again before Kycia and
Cam Slatton racked in goals to put Union up 8-6. The Dutchmen entered the second half leading 8-7.
Union's
Kyle Mason scored the only goal in the third period with 53 seconds left to go on the clock.
To open the fourth quarter
Nolan Stauffer and
Andrew Blau each bagged a goal to put the Dutchmen up 11-7. Clarkson scored two goals late in the fourth.
Stauffer and Richardson each finished with three points (one goal, two assists), Slatton and Kycia each tallied two goals.

Tom Lawton each recorded four groundballs, while Lawton went 13-23 from the faceoff X.
Michael Froman forced three turnovers. In goal,
Sam Bebout recorded 10 saves in the full 60 minutes.
The Dutchmen head to SUNY Cortland on Wednesday, April 6. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
