SCHENECTADY, NY—The No. 17 nationally-ranked Union College men's lacrosse team defeated Williams College 12-11 at Frank Bailey Field on Wednesday evening.
The Ephs started the game strong as they had a 4-1 lead with 12 minutes and 27 seconds left in the second. Â The Dutchmen made a strong comeback as they entered halftime leading 5-4.
Nolan Stauffer led the comeback charge with two of the four goals.
Peter Richardson and
Paul Alberti also tallied goals.
Jack Scheufele posted an early third period goal, but Williams came back with five consecutive goals. The Ephs entered the fourth period up 10-7. They found the back of the net twice more before Union put a stop to it scoring five consecutive goals to win the game.
Stauffer led the team with four goals and five points, followed by
Peter Richardson with four points (two goals, two assists).
Tom Lawton went 16-26 in the faceoff X with 10 groundballs.
Thomas Stanton had five groundballs in addition to his goal.
Michael Froman finished with two caused turnovers.
Sam Bebout spent the full 60 minutes in goal and made 13 saves.Â
The Dutchmen head to Massapequa, N.Y., as they take on Springfield College at Burns Park at 1 p.m.Â
