Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Dutchmen Fall to No. 2 RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The Union College men's lacrosse team dropped to 7-6 on the season as they fell to nationally-ranked No. 2 Rochester Institute of Technology 19-6 on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers opened the game with a quick 3-0 run, before Nolan Stauffer found the back of the net from a Jack Scheufele assist to close the gap. Unfortunately, RIT was able to tally four more before the end of the first quarter.

Union opened the second quarter with an early goal from Peter Richardson (with an assist to Stauffer). The Tigers scored two additional goals, but the Dutchmen racked in two late goals 30 seconds apart. Jordan Cooper scored the first of the two goals, Thomas Stanton scored second after receiving a pass from Sean Hanley. The score at halftime was 9-4.

The Tigers went on a 4-0 run in the third. The Dutchmen opened the fourth quarter with a Charlie McGovern goal with an assist from Cooper. Richardson recorded a goal midway through the fourth, but it was not enough to hold off RIT.

Stauffer, Richardson, and Cooper each finished with two points. Hanley grabbed six groundballs and Lance Lonergan Jr caused two turnovers. Sam Bebout made 14 saves in 51:19 played, Cole Gendels made three saves in 7:08.

The Dutchmen continue their road swing at Bard on April 23 at Noon.
